What We Believe
At Resonate...
-We believe everybody fully belongs, no matter what.
-We believe every foster child in our community should be cared for, and every foster family supported.
-We believe in strengthening marriages & relationships because we were built for relationship.
-We empower people to have a deeper relationship with the God because He loves you and cares for you.
-We support racial understanding and equality because everybody is equally valued by God and loved by God.
-We support healthy and safe environments for kids and want to make sure kids have basics, like food to eat and beds to sleep on.
-We love God, and take "Love Your Neighbor" seriously.
-We don't take ourselves too seriously because we think church community should be fun.
Though we sometimes live out a relationship with God in innovative ways, our beliefs are rooted in Christian tradition. We try to find common ground and to lead with Jesus' example of loving God and loving people.
We also believe: “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity,” which means that Biblically-rooted and committed Christians can disagree on many issues that are peripheral doctrines. It also means there are certain beliefs that provide a framework around which we will grow in maturity in Jesus Christ. So here are some essentials:
GOD
We believe in one God, almighty creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God. In its original writing, it is without error.
JESUS
We believe the eternal God entered our world in Jesus Christ. He lived a sinless life, voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute, rose again from the dead, and will return personally.
SIN
We believe that we are created in the image of God. However, we have all sinned and thereby incurred death as well as alienation from God and one another.
SALVATION
We believe that we are saved by grace through trusting in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts.
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit equips followers of Jesus to live the Christian life and fulfill our God-given purpose from the moment we commit our lives to him.
BAPTISM
We believe that after trusting Jesus Christ, we are to be baptized in water as a public proclamation that we have put our faith in Him.
COMMUNION
We believe that those who share the Lord’s Supper should be followers of Jesus.
RESURRECTION
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting joy of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
THE CHURCH
We believe the Church includes all followers of Jesus. We gather to worship God, love one another, and make disciples.
