Ordinary Jars, Extraordinary Treasure

August 9th Sermon, Day 1

Have you ever felt too ordinary, too broken, or too weak to be used by God? You are not alone. Most of us look at our lives and see the cracks, the limitations, the places where we feel like we simply do not measure up. But here is the beautiful truth: that is exactly where God does His best work.

Paul describes believers as jars of clay. In his day, clay jars were common, cheap, and fragile. Nobody displayed them in a place of honor. They were everyday containers. And yet Paul says God intentionally places His most priceless treasure, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, inside people just like you and me. Why would God do that? So that when people see something extraordinary coming from an ordinary life, they know the power belongs to Him and not to us.

You do not have to be impressive. You do not have to have it all together. God is not looking for perfect containers. He is looking for willing ones. Your weakness is not a disqualifier. It is actually an invitation for His strength to show up in ways that leave no doubt about who deserves the credit. You carry something priceless inside you. Not because of who you are, but because of Whose you are.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for choosing ordinary people to carry Your extraordinary message. Help me stop waiting to feel worthy and simply trust that Your power is enough. Amen.
