God Watches Over All of You
Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
August 16th Sermon, Day 3
We often think of God's care in terms of our circumstances. Will He fix this situation? Will He change this outcome? But Psalm 121 points to something even deeper. God watches over your soul.
Your soul is not just one part of you. It is the whole of you. Your thinking, your feeling, your hoping, your grieving, your doubting, your desiring. All of it. God's watchfulness extends to every corner of who you are. That means when your mind is spinning with anxiety, He sees it. When your heart is heavy with grief, He is there. When your will feels too weak to keep going, He has not looked away. He is watching over all of it, not to judge it, but to keep it.
Sometimes the hardest thing to believe is not that God can handle our big problems, but that He actually cares about the quiet, internal weight we carry every single day. He does. Every part of you matters to Him. You are not just a body moving through life. You are a soul being watched over by the God who made you and loves you completely.
Bible Verse
"The Lord will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." - Psalm 121:7-8
Reflection Question
Which part of your inner life, your thoughts, emotions, or desires, do you find hardest to believe God actually cares about, and why?
Quote
"The soul is the essence of our lives. It's not just our bodies, but also our thinking, our feeling, our willing, our desiring. It's what basically animates us until death. And the psalmist here implies that God is going to watch over all of that."
Prayer
God, thank You for caring about all of me, not just the parts I show the world. Watch over my soul today and remind me that I am fully known and fully loved by You. Amen.
