He Was Faithful Then, He’ll Be Faithful Now

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

August 16th Sermon, Day 5

Psalm 121 was likely sung by ancient Israelites as they made their way to Jerusalem for worship. The journey was long. The roads were uncertain. And as they traveled, they lifted their eyes to the hills and reminded themselves: our help comes from the Lord.

Thousands of years later, those same words still hold. The same God who kept His people on that long road is the same God who is with you today. His faithfulness did not expire. It does not have an expiration date. When life feels uncertain, one of the most powerful things you can do is remember. Remember how God has shown up before. Remember the moments He carried you through something you did not think you could survive. Remember that He has never once stopped watching over you.

This is why passages like Psalm 121 matter so much. They are not just ancient poetry. They are living reminders of who God is and who you are because of Him. You are someone He watches over. Someone He keeps. Someone He will never abandon. Whatever you are facing today, you are not facing it without Him. The God who kept the Israelites is keeping you, right now, and forevermore.

Bible Verse

"The Lord will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." - Psalm 121:7-8

Reflection Question

When you look back on your life, where can you see evidence of God's faithfulness, and how might remembering those moments strengthen your trust in Him today?

Quote

"Just as the ancient Israelites would have done thousands of years ago when they sang Psalm 121, let us remember how God shows up for us, how God is our help, and how God is the one who does not slumber or sleep and will watch over our coming and are going both now and forevermore."

Prayer

God, thank You for being the same yesterday, today, and forever. Help me remember Your faithfulness when the road ahead feels uncertain, and remind me that You are already there. Amen.
