A Relationship, Not A Program
Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
September 6th Sermon, Day 4
It is tempting to treat faith like a checklist. Read the right things, say the right prayers, show up in the right places, and hope that the combination adds up to peace. But that is not what Jesus is offering. He is not offering a program. He is offering Himself. There is a big difference. A program can be completed and set aside. A relationship is ongoing. It grows. It deepens. It changes you over time in ways a checklist never could.
The rest Jesus promises is not something you earn by following the right steps. It flows from staying connected to Him, day after day, in the ordinary moments of your life. Think of it this way: a GPS is only useful when it is connected. The moment you lose signal, you are on your own. But when you are connected, even a wrong turn is not the end of the world. It simply reroutes you. Following Jesus works the same way. You will not always get it right, but when you stay connected to Him, you are never truly lost. The rest your soul is looking for is found in that connection. Not in doing more, but in staying close to the One who gives life.
Bible Verse
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you treating your faith more like a program to complete than a relationship to nurture?
Quote
"Jesus isn't offering you a program. He's offering you a relationship."
Prayer
Jesus, I want more than a routine. I want a real relationship with You. Help me to stay connected to You throughout my day, not just in the moments when I feel like I need You most.
