The Battle Within
Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
June 14th Sermon, Day 2
Have you ever wondered why following Jesus sometimes feels like an internal war? Before you knew Christ, there wasn't much spiritual conflict in your life. Your old nature simply ruled without opposition, leading you down paths that seemed natural and easy.
But the moment you invited Jesus into your heart, everything changed. Suddenly, you began experiencing tension between what you used to do and what you now know is right. This isn't a sign that something's wrong with your faith—it's actually proof that the Holy Spirit is alive and active within you! The Spirit creates this holy tension by opposing your old patterns and desires. Where you once lived selfishly without a second thought, now you feel convicted to love others. Where you once spoke carelessly, now you sense the need for kind words. This internal struggle isn't your enemy; it's evidence that God is transforming you from the inside out. The battle you experience is actually a beautiful sign that you're no longer the same person you used to be.
Bible Verse
'For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.' - Galatians 5:17
