Stronger for the Next Summit

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

March 22nd Sermon, Day 5

The first time you face a major challenge in life, it can feel overwhelming because you've never climbed that mountain before. But something beautiful happens through the struggle - you gain endurance. The mountain may still be big the next time you face it, but you're stronger, wiser, and more prepared than you were before.

This is the long-term view of spiritual maturity. We're not climbing toward a single moment of achievement but toward a lifelong goal of becoming more like Jesus. Each challenge we face, each season of growth, each moment of testing shapes us and strengthens us for what's ahead. Your character becomes stronger the second time around.

Growth, especially spiritual growth, rarely happens when things are easy. It often happens in the middle of the climb when we're tired and tempted to stop. But those difficult moments aren't wasted - they're building something in us that can't be developed any other way. They're preparing us for the next summit. As you continue your journey toward spiritual maturity, remember that every step forward matters. Every choice to trust God, every decision to keep climbing when you want to quit, every moment of perseverance is shaping you into the person God designed you to be. The summit isn't the destination - becoming like Jesus is.

Bible Verse

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." - Romans 15:5-6

God, thank You that every challenge is making me stronger and more like Jesus. Help me see the long-term view of spiritual growth and trust the process.
