Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
October 25th Sermon, Day 5
One of the most freeing truths about serving others is this: you do not have to be impressive to do it. You just have to be willing. Serving is not reserved for people with the right title, the right age, or the right amount of money. Kids can serve. Teenagers can serve. College students, working adults, retirees, all of us have something to offer. The playing field is wide open. And the opportunities are closer than you think.
They are in your neighborhood, your workplace, your church, and your home. They are in the friend who is struggling, the coworker who seems off, the stranger sitting alone. You do not need a program or a plan. You just need to pay attention and be willing to respond. This is what it looks like to follow Jesus. He showed up. Consistently, humbly, and often at great personal cost. He did not wait for the perfect moment or the ideal circumstances. He saw people, and He moved toward them. As we close out this week, the invitation is simple. Show up. Not because you have it all together, but because someone near you needs to know they are not alone. When you serve others with love, especially without fanfare, you are reflecting the heart of Jesus to a world that desperately needs to see it. You have everything you need to start today.
Bible Verse
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:45
Reflection Question
Who is one specific person in your life right now that you could intentionally serve this week, and what is one simple, concrete step you can take to show up for them?
Quote
"You don't have to do something impressive to be generous. You just have to be willing to do something helpful."
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for showing up for me when I needed it most. Give me eyes to see the people around me who need someone to show up for them, and give me the courage to take that step. Amen.
