May 24th Sermon, Day 4
On the day of Pentecost, something remarkable happened. People from different nations, speaking different languages, all heard the gospel in their own tongue. This wasn't about creating an exclusive club - it was about breaking down barriers and reaching everyone. The Holy Spirit has a heart for the whole world. He doesn't build walls; He tears them down. He doesn't make the tent smaller; He expands it to include every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.
When you're filled with the Spirit, you'll find yourself caring about people you never cared about before. Maybe there are walls in your life - walls of prejudice, fear, comfort, or indifference. Perhaps you've built barriers between yourself and certain types of people, certain neighborhoods, or certain conversations about faith. The Holy Spirit wants to give you supernatural boldness to cross those barriers. Spirit-filled believers don't retreat into safe Christian bubbles. They venture out with love, compassion, and the good news of Jesus. They see people the way God sees them - not as projects to fix, but as precious souls to love. Who has God placed in your path that you've been avoiding? What walls is the Holy Spirit asking you to tear down? Remember, if you love and follow Jesus, you'll tear down walls, not build them.
Bible Verse
'Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.' - Acts 2:5-6
Reflection Question
What walls or barriers has the Holy Spirit been prompting you to tear down in order to reach others with God's love?
Quote
Christianity is not about building walls. It's not about making the tent smaller. It's about proclaiming Jesus Christ to every tribe, tongue, people and nation.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, break down the walls in my heart and give me Your love for all people. Help me cross barriers to share Your good news.
More Than Human Effort

May 24th Sermon, Day 3
How often do you find yourself trying harder, pushing more, and striving to live the Christian life in your own strength? It's exhausting, isn't it? Like rowing a boat against a strong current - lots of effort, little progress, and complete burnout. Jesus knew His disciples would face an impossible task. Spreading the gospel to the entire world? Transforming lives? Building the church? These weren't jobs for human determination alone. That's why He told them to wait for the Holy Spirit's power before they began their mission.
The Christian life was never meant to be lived through willpower and good intentions. It requires supernatural enablement - what Jesus called 'dunamis,' the same word we get 'dynamite' from. This isn't about trying harder; it's about surrendering deeper. Think of the difference between a rowboat and a sailboat. A rowboat depends entirely on human effort - exhausting and limited.
A sailboat positions itself to catch the wind and lets that power move it forward. The Holy Spirit is like that wind, ready to fill your sails when you position yourself through prayer, surrender, and obedience. Stop rowing frantically in your own strength. Raise your sails and let God's Spirit provide the power for your journey.
Bible Verse
'When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.' - Acts 2:1-2
Reflection Question
Where in your life are you 'rowing frantically' in your own strength instead of depending on the Holy Spirit's power?
Quote
The Christian life is never meant to be lived in human strength alone.
Prayer
Father, I'm tired of trying to live the Christian life in my own strength. Help me surrender and depend on Your Spirit's power instead of my own effort.
Ordinary People, Extraordinary Power

May 24th Sermon, Day 2
Look around at the people in your life - your coworkers, neighbors, family members. What do you see? Probably ordinary people living ordinary lives, facing ordinary challenges. Now here's the incredible truth: these are exactly the kind of people God loves to use.
Pentecost wasn't about God choosing the most talented, educated, or influential people of the day. The disciples were fishermen, tax collectors, and everyday folks. Yet when the Holy Spirit filled them, they turned the world upside down. They didn't become extraordinary people; they became ordinary people filled with extraordinary power. This is God's pattern throughout history. He doesn't wait for us to become perfect or impressive. He takes us right where we are - with our fears, limitations, and imperfections - and fills us with His Spirit.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you today, not because you're special, but because God is. Your background doesn't disqualify you. Your past mistakes don't eliminate you. Your current struggles don't sideline you. God specializes in using ordinary people to do extraordinary things when they're filled with His Spirit.
Bible Verse
'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.' - Acts 1:8
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life do you feel too ordinary or inadequate to be used by God?
Quote
The good news of Pentecost is that God always uses ordinary people by filling them with extraordinary power.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for choosing ordinary people like me. Fill me with Your extraordinary power to accomplish what You've called me to do.
The Mystery Made Clear

May 24th Sermon, Day 1
Have you ever felt like the Holy Spirit is hard to understand? You're not alone. Many believers find the third person of the Trinity mysterious, like trying to grasp fog with your hands. Yet this same Spirit who seems elusive is actually the key to everything God wants to do in and through your life.
The Holy Spirit isn't meant to remain a mystery forever. He's a person who wants to be known, experienced, and relied upon. When Jesus prepared to leave His disciples, He didn't leave them with a manual or a set of rules - He promised them a Helper, a Comforter, a Guide who would be with them always.
Today, that same promise extends to you. The Spirit who empowered the early church is available to empower your life. He's not distant or disconnected from your daily struggles and dreams. He's present, personal, and powerful, waiting to transform the ordinary moments of your life into something extraordinary. The mystery begins to clear when we stop trying to figure Him out with our minds alone and start experiencing Him through relationship. Just as you get to know a friend by spending time together, you get to know the Holy Spirit through prayer, worship, and surrender.
Bible Verse
'On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."' - Acts 1:4-5
Reflection Question
What has made the Holy Spirit feel mysterious or distant to you, and how might you begin to experience Him more personally?
Quote
To some Christians, we can understand God the Father, and God the Son, but the Holy Spirit kind of seems like a fog or a blob.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, help me move beyond seeing You as a mystery to experiencing You as my Helper and Guide. Open my heart to know You more intimately today.
Extending What You’ve Received

May 17th Sermon, Day 5
Here's the beautiful challenge of grace: God extended it to you at your worst, and now He calls you to extend it to others at their worst. This isn't always easy. It's natural to want people to earn forgiveness, to prove they've changed, to meet certain standards before we offer grace. But that's not how God treated you. He loved you while you were still a sinner, forgave you before you had it all figured out, and accepted you as a work in progress.
The grace you've received isn't meant to stop with you - it's meant to flow through you to others. When someone cuts you off in traffic, when a friend disappoints you, when a family member fails again, you have a choice. You can respond with the judgment they deserve, or you can respond with the grace you've received. Remember, it's possible to love Jesus and still be a work in progress. That's true for you, and it's true for everyone around you.
Bible Verse
'Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right."' - Acts 10:34-35
Reflection Question
What would it look like practically for you to extend the same grace to others that God has extended to you?
Quote
God extended grace to us at our worst. How then can we refuse grace to others?
Prayer
Lord, help me be a conduit of Your grace to others. Give me the strength to love as You have loved me.
