Freedom Is Already Yours

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

July 19th Sermon, Day 3

Forgiveness is not just something that clears your record. It is something that changes how you live. When you truly believe that your sins are forgiven, not someday, not conditionally, but right now in the present tense, it frees you from the exhausting cycle of striving and shame.

Paul makes this clear in Romans 8. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Not a little condemnation. Not condemnation only when you are doing well. None. Zero. The law of the Spirit of life has set you free. That freedom is not a license to live carelessly. It is actually an invitation to live more fully. When you are no longer spending all your energy trying to earn God's approval, you have something left to give. You can pursue holy living from a place of gratitude rather than guilt. You can love others more generously. You can endure hard seasons with steadiness rather than panic.

Freedom in Christ is not passive. It is the foundation from which you live, serve, and grow. You are not working toward forgiveness. You are working from it. Let that sink in today. You are already forgiven. Already free. Now go live like it.

Bible Verse

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death." - Romans 8:1-2

Reflection Question

How might your daily choices look different if you genuinely lived from a place of freedom rather than a fear of condemnation?

Quote

"It does give us freedom. And it gives us freedom to cease to our striving and earning what Jesus has already secured. That's where the freedom comes into play, comes in to receiving what God has already freely given."

Prayer

Jesus, thank You that there is no condemnation for those who are in You. Help me to live today not from a place of fear or striving, but from the freedom You have already secured for me. Amen.
