What You Believe Shapes Those Around You

July 19th Sermon, Day 4

Here is something worth sitting with: the way you understand God's forgiveness does not just affect you. It ripples outward. The people in your home, your friendships, your workplace, your church community, they are all shaped by what you model.

Peter learned this the hard way. Even after walking with Jesus, witnessing the resurrection, and leading the early church, He still acted in ways that suggested faith in Christ was not quite enough. And people followed his lead. His behavior in Galatians 2 was a quiet but powerful reminder that our unresolved struggles with grace can quietly teach others to doubt it too.

When we live as though grace must be earned, we risk passing that burden on to the people watching us. But the opposite is also true. When we live with the settled confidence that we are fully forgiven and deeply loved, we give others permission to believe the same. This is why community matters so much. We were never designed to figure this out alone. Talking honestly with others about the struggle to receive and extend forgiveness is not weakness. It is wisdom. It is how we help each other stay grounded in the truth. Who in your life needs to see what grace actually looks like? Start by letting them see it in you.

Who in your life might be forming their understanding of God's grace based on how they see you living?

Prayer

Father, let my life be a reflection of Your grace, not a barrier to it. Give me the courage to be honest with others about my own journey and to point them toward Your forgiveness. Amen.
