Grounded, Growing, and Going Forward
Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
July 19th Sermon, Day 5
Receiving God's forgiveness is not a one-time moment you move past. It is the foundation you keep returning to, the truth you build your whole life on. Paul prays in Colossians 1 that believers would be filled with the knowledge of God's will, that they would walk worthy of the Lord, bear fruit in every good work, and be strengthened with all power for endurance and patience. That is a full life. A growing life. And it all flows from one settled conviction: that God has already qualified you, already rescued you, and already given you everything you need through Jesus Christ.
Patience and endurance are not passive. They are the active choice to keep trusting God's grace even when circumstances are hard, even when you fail again, even when forgiveness feels distant. A settled conviction does not mean you sit still. It means you walk forward with confidence in what God has already done. And you do not walk alone. Lean into your community. Pray with others. Let Scripture replace the lies you tell yourself about whether you are truly forgiven. Keep growing in the knowledge of who God is and what He has done. You are qualified. You are rescued. You are free. Now walk in it, one day at a time.
Bible Verse
"And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God." - Colossians 1:10
Reflection Question
What is one practical step you can take this week to live from your forgiveness rather than just believing it in theory?
Quote
"A settled conviction doesn't mean that we just rest in that belief. We take that belief and we put that foundational belief that we are forgiven and we put that into action. We walk that belief in our everyday lives because that is what being a follower of Jesus means."
Prayer
Lord, ground me in the truth of what You have already done and give me the strength to walk forward in it. May my life bear fruit that reflects Your grace and points others to You. Amen.
