Where Does Your Help Come From?
Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
August 16th Sermon, Day 1
Life has a way of narrowing our vision. One moment everything feels manageable, and the next, all we can see is the hard thing right in front of us. Fear moves in. Hope feels distant. And without even realizing it, we shift into survival mode, just trying to get through the day.
This is exactly where Psalm 121 meets us. It does not open with answers. It opens with a question: "Where does my help come from?" That question is honest. It is raw. And it is one that every person reading this has asked at some point. The beauty is that the question does not hang in the air unanswered. The psalmist responds with confidence: my help comes from the Lord. Not from my own strength. Not from the right circumstances. From the Lord. When life feels overwhelming, that simple declaration can be the anchor you need. You do not have to have it all figured out. You just have to remember where your help comes from. Today, if you are in a hard place, let this truth be the first thing you reach for. Not a solution. Not a plan. Just this: God is your help.
Bible Verse
"I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." - Psalm 121:1-2
Reflection Question
When life gets hard, what is the first place you tend to look for help, and how might that change if your first instinct was to turn to God?
Quote
"When life gets hard, most of us, myself included, undeniably, we jump into survival mode. We just. Oh, we buckle down. We gotta just get through this."
Prayer
Lord, when my vision narrows and fear takes over, remind me that You are my help. Teach me to reach for You first. Amen.
