Someone Is Watching You Run

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

August 23rd Sermon, Day 4

Hebrews 12 opens with a powerful image. You are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. All those faithful people from Hebrews 11, they ran their lap of the race and passed the baton forward. Their perseverance strengthens yours. But here is something worth sitting with: just as their example encourages you, your example may be encouraging someone else right now.

Someone in your life could be watching how you handle this difficult season. A friend, a coworker, a family member, maybe even someone you would never expect. They are not looking for someone who has all the answers. They are watching to see if faith is real. If it actually holds up under pressure. Your willingness to trust God in the middle of uncertainty is a testimony that speaks louder than any words. You do not have to be strong for everyone. You just have to be honest and faithful. That is enough. Your perseverance matters more than you know.

Bible Verse

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." - Hebrews 12:1

Reflection Question

Who in your life might be quietly watching how you navigate this season, and how does that awareness shape the way you think about your own faithfulness right now?

Quote

"Somebody could be watching you live out your faith during a time of difficulty. Right now. Right now, they could be learning from you the way to handle difficulty."

Prayer

Lord, remind me that my faithfulness has an audience I may not even see. Help me run my race well, not for applause, but because You are worth trusting. Amen.
