From Consumer To Participant

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

September 13th Sermon, Day 3

It is easy to consume faith. You can listen to sermons, follow Christian accounts, and fill your playlist with worship music, all without ever truly engaging with another person. And while none of those things are bad, they can quietly become a substitute for something far more important. At some point, faith has to move from something you take in to something you actually live out.

That shift happens most naturally in community, in the ordinary, sometimes inconvenient moments of doing life with other people. Watching the church is not the same as being the church. Being the church means showing up when it is not convenient. It means noticing the person who seems off and asking how they are really doing. It means praying with someone, not just sending a prayer emoji. These small acts of presence are where faith becomes real, both for you and for the people around you. You do not need a platform or a title to participate. Sometimes the ministry God gives you is simply noticing. That is enough. That is more than enough. Step in. Be present. Let your faith become something you embody, not just something you consume.

Bible Verse

"For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ, we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." - Romans 12:4-5

Reflection Question

Is your faith primarily something you consume, or something you actively live out in relationship with others, and what is one concrete way you could shift that balance?

Quote

"At some point faith has to move from something we consume to something we embody."

Prayer

God, move my faith from the inside out. Help me to stop watching from a distance and start showing up with presence, intention, and love. Amen.
