Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
November 1st Sermon, Day 3
There's something in us that wants to secure tomorrow before we've even finished today. We stockpile, we plan, we worry about what might run out. It's human nature. But God, in His wisdom, designed the manna in the desert to teach a different way of living. Every morning, bread appeared on the ground. Every morning, people gathered what they needed. And when some tried to save extra for the next day, it rotted. The message was clear: you cannot hoard tomorrow's grace today.
Jesus carried this same truth into His teaching on prayer. He didn't say ask for this month's bread or this year's security. He said ask for today's bread. Just today. That's not carelessness. That's trust. This kind of daily dependence can feel uncomfortable, especially when life feels uncertain. But it's actually an invitation into something better: a relationship with a God who wants to meet you fresh every single morning. His mercies are new every day, just like the manna was new every day. You don't have to figure out next year today. You just have to trust Him with today. And when tomorrow comes, He'll already be there waiting for you.
Bible Verse
"Give us today our daily bread." - Matthew 6:11
Reflection Question
In what area of your life are you trying to stockpile certainty or control, and what would it look like to release that to God one day at a time?
Quote
"You can't stockpile trust. You can't hoard tomorrow's grace today."
Prayer
Father, teach me to trust You one day at a time. Help me to release my grip on tomorrow and receive the grace You have for me today. Amen.
