Moving in the Way Jesus Moved
Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
October 4th Sermon, Day 3
Jesus had every reason to keep His distance. He was surrounded by crowds, constantly in demand, and fully aware of the cost of getting close to broken people. And yet, He always moved toward them. There is a moment in the Gospels where a blind man cried out to Jesus and the crowd kept walking. Jesus stopped. He did not send a message. He did not delegate. He went to the man.
That is the pattern of Jesus Christ. He closed the gap between Himself and the hurting. If we are going to follow Him, our feet need to move like His did. That means noticing the person others walk past. It means stopping when it is inconvenient. It means choosing someone else's need over our own comfort. This is not about being a hero. It is about being available. Jesus did not love people from a distance, and He calls us to do the same. Sometimes your greatest act of faith is simply to move toward someone else. You do not need a plan or a program. You just need a willing heart and a willingness to take one step. God will meet you in that movement. He always does. The people around you are not problems to be solved from afar. They are image-bearers of God who need someone to show up. Let that someone be you.
Bible Verse
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:35
Reflection Question
Is there someone in your life right now that you have been loving from a distance, and what would it look like to actually move toward them this week?
Quote
"Jesus didn't love people from a distance. He always moved toward them."
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for moving toward me when I was far off. Give me a heart that moves toward others the way You moved toward the hurting. Amen.
