Start Where You Are

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

October 18th Sermon, Day 5

It is easy to put generosity on hold. We tell ourselves we will give more when we have more. We will serve when life slows down. We will help when we feel more equipped. But that day has a way of never quite arriving. Here is the truth: generosity is not a destination you reach after you have accumulated enough. It is a posture you choose right now, with what you already have.

God’s call in Deuteronomy 15 was not directed at the wealthy or the powerful. It was given to ordinary people who had been on the receiving end of His grace. Because they had experienced His generosity, they were called to extend it. The same is true for us. If you have experienced the grace of Jesus Christ, you already have something worth giving. You have a story. You have compassion. You have time, even if it is limited. You have encouragement to offer. You have a life that can make room for someone else. You do not have to wait until you feel ready. You do not have to wait until you are rich, influential, or have it all figured out. You can start today, with the person right in front of you, in the place where you already are. Open hearts and open hands change the world, one person at a time. And it starts with you, right now.

Bible Verse

"Rather be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need." - Deuteronomy 15:8

Reflection Question

What is one thing you already have, whether it is time, a skill, encouragement, or a resource, that you could offer to someone this week without waiting until conditions feel more ideal?

Quote

"You don’t have to wait until you’re rich, powerful, talented or influential to make a difference. You can start today."

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for the grace You have shown me. Help me to stop waiting for the perfect moment and start living generously with what I already have, right where I am. Amen.
