Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church
October 25th Sermon, Day 1
When most of us hear the word generosity, our minds go straight to money. And while financial giving matters, generosity is so much bigger than that. It includes your time, your energy, and your willingness to simply show up for someone who needs you. Think about a moment when someone gave you their full attention during a hard season. They did not write a check. They just showed up. Maybe they sat with you, helped you move, or stayed late to help you clean up. That kind of generosity can leave a mark that lasts a lifetime.
Jesus modeled this beautifully. He was constantly interrupting His own plans to notice people and respond to their needs. He touched the untouchable, ate with the overlooked, and stopped for the ones everyone else walked past. You do not need a large bank account to be generous. You need a willing heart. A phone call, a meal, a few hours of your Saturday, these things cost something real. But they can mean everything to the person on the receiving end. Generosity, at its core, is about how you show up for others. And the good news is that no matter your age, your income, or your schedule, you have something meaningful to give.
Bible Verse
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:45
Reflection Question
Is there someone in your life right now who needs your presence more than your money, and what is one practical way you could show up for them this week?
Quote
"Generosity isn't just about what we're willing to give away. It's about how we're willing to show up for others."
Prayer
Lord, expand my understanding of generosity beyond what I can give financially. Open my eyes to the people around me who need my time and presence, and give me a willing heart to respond. Amen.
