Grace Changes Everything

Sunday Rewind is a 5-day Devotional based on the weekly sermon at Resonate Community Church

October 25th Sermon, Day 3

Here is something important to get straight before we go any further. Serving others is not how you earn God’s love. You cannot earn it. It is already yours, freely given through what Jesus did on the cross. Jesus did not come simply to inspire better behavior. He came to rescue us. He gave His life as a ransom, taking on the weight of our sin so that we could be restored to God. That is the gospel. And it is the foundation for everything else.

When that truth really lands in your heart, something shifts. You stop serving out of obligation or guilt. You start serving out of gratitude. You are not trying to impress God. You are responding to a grace so generous it is almost hard to take in. Think about a time someone did something unexpectedly kind for you, something you did not deserve and could not repay. Did it not make you want to be kinder to others? Grace works the same way, only on a much deeper level. When we truly understand what Jesus has done for us, it changes how we see the people around us. They are not interruptions. They are opportunities to reflect the love we have already received. Serving others is not the way to God’s heart. It is the overflow of already being there.

Bible Verse

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:45

Reflection Question

How does knowing that your service flows from grace rather than obligation change the way you feel about helping others, even when it is inconvenient?

Quote

"We're not serving others to earn God's love somehow. Instead, what we're doing is we're responding with gratitude to the grace that we've received."

Prayer

Father, thank You for the grace I did not earn and could never deserve. Let that grace be the fuel behind every act of service I offer, so that what I do reflects Your love and not my own effort. Amen.
